About the music

Sukkot is called z'man simchateinu, the season of our joy, and its music is built for dancing. Songs like V'samachta B'chagecha ("you shall rejoice on your festival") and Sisu V'simchu are sung in the sukkah and at the hakafot, while the Hallel melodies and the Hoshanot chant carry the synagogue services through the week.

Simchat Torah closes the season with seven circuits of dancing with the Torah scrolls. Its songbook includes Atah Horeita, Toras Hashem T'mimah, Sisu V'simchu B'Simchas Torah and dozens of niggunim that Chassidic composers, Israeli bands and cantors have recorded over the years — music The Kol Yehudim Show plays every fall.
